Tally Connector setup

Keep your Tally. The Tally Connector is a small desktop agent that runs on the machine where Tally is installed and relays data both ways — Tally → Bizconnekt and Bizconnekt → Tally — with no double entry. Your books stay wherever your CA wants them.

1. Install the connector (admin)

In the Admin console, open Configuration → Security → Tally Connector. A tenant admin can:

  1. Click Download connector (.zip) and install it on the computer that runs Tally. (If the download isn't enabled for your account yet, contact support.)
  2. Click Create connector. Give it an optional label (for example, "CA office PC") and copy the agent ID and secret — the secret is shown only once. Each value has its own Copy button, so you can copy them one at a time. The window closes only from its × or I've saved it, never from a click outside it, so a stray click never loses the secret.
  3. Paste both into the agent's config.json on the Tally machine, along with your Tally company name.

The credentials lock to the first machine that uses them. The page then shows a live status badge — Online · Tally reachable when everything is connected — plus the Tally company, machine name and last-seen time. Revoke stops a connector immediately — you are asked "Revoke this connector?" first, so it can't happen by accident, and the agent stays stopped until you re-issue it. Re-issue connector replaces the key (the old one disconnects at once).

Supported Tally versions

The connector works with:

Tally productSupported
TallyPrime 3.0 and laterYes
Tally.ERP 9Yes
TallyPrime 1.x and 2.xNo — update to TallyPrime 3.0 or later

Bizconnekt sends each record to Tally in the layout your version expects, so GST details on parties, item HSN codes and invoices arrive correctly on TallyPrime 3 and on Tally.ERP 9.

Check your Tally version

On the Tally Connector page, the Tally version column shows what the connector found on the Tally machine (for example "TallyPrime 5.0" or "Tally.ERP 9") with a badge:

  • Compatible — you're set; syncing is available.
  • Not supported — the version is too old. Update TallyPrime to 3.0 or later (or use Tally.ERP 9), then restart the connector.
  • Not detected — the version hasn't been read yet. Make sure Tally is running with a company open on the connector computer (and not sitting on a licence screen or dialog), and that you have the latest connector.

If you upgrade Tally later, the page notes for a while that Tally was upgraded and from which version.

If the Tally company changes

Each connector is linked to the Tally company it first saw. If a different company is open in Tally later, the page shows "The Tally company has changed" and syncing pauses, so nothing is sent to the wrong books. If it's the right company, an admin clicks Confirm this is the same company and then Confirm; syncing resumes. Sync stays paused until an admin confirms, even if the original company is open again — so open the right company in Tally first, then confirm.

When sync is blocked

While the version is not supported or not detected, or a company change is unconfirmed, sync is paused and the Data Sync window tells you why and what to do (see Data Sync). Nothing is lost — fix the cause and sync again. If you can't update Tally right away, contact support.

2. Map your accounts (admin, once)

Under Configuration → Finance → Chart of Accounts, the Tally Sync menu holds the mapping tools:

  • Upload Tally Masters — upload a Tally Masters XML to link Tally ledgers to your chart of accounts
  • Review COA Links — resolve any account links that need a human decision
  • Review Payment Mode Links — map Tally payment modes (Card / UPI / Cash…) to Bizconnekt payment modes
  • Sync from Tally / Push to Tally — pull or push master data (accounts, customers, suppliers, items) live through the connector

3. Day-to-day sync (in the app)

The Data Sync page in the Bizconnekt app is where sync actually runs:

  • Pull from Tally — bring vouchers and masters in from Tally, choosing what and for which date range
  • Export to Tally — push customers, suppliers, items and pending documents out to Tally
  • Upload Tally XML — import from a Tally export file when you'd rather not connect live

Every run appears in the sync history with a status (Processing, Completed, Completed with errors, Failed), a live progress bar, and per-batch counts of created / failed / skipped / conflict vouchers. Summary cards up top track Total synced, Pending and Conflicts. Filter the history by direction (Inbound / Outbound) or status. If Tally is offline, the sync dialog says so — "Tally is not reachable" — and asks you to start the Gateway of Tally on that machine, then click Check again. The dialog also shows your Tally version, and explains clearly if sync is blocked.
