People
People is where you keep your team's records and track who was in and when. Think of it as your team's file drawer and attendance book, kept together and always up to date.
This page explains what People is for in plain terms. The step-by-step guides for each part are linked at the bottom.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
The two parts of People
People has two parts. One holds who is on your team; the other tracks when they were at work.
| Part | What it's for | Real-world example |
|---|---|---|
| Employees | A record for each person on your team — their details, contacts and reference information, kept together in one place. | "Priya Sharma — joined April, Sales department" |
| Attendance | Daily attendance, working hours, shifts and rosters — who was present, and when. | "Marked present, 9:30 to 6:00, morning shift" |
You set up your Employees first — one record per person. Once your team is on file, Attendance lets you track their days, hours, shifts and rosters against those same records.
Employees — your team's file drawer
Every person on your team gets one record. It holds their basic details, an emergency contact, bank details kept for reference, and the statutory numbers you're required to keep on file. A record is created once and updated as things change — a new department, a change of phone number, or the day someone leaves.
You don't have to fill in everything at once. Start with the basics — a name and the essentials — and add the rest whenever you have it.
Attendance — the daily record
Attendance is your everyday view of who was at work. It covers daily attendance, working hours, and the shifts and rosters your team runs on. Because it reads from the same employee records, everyone you've added shows up here automatically.
