How to Issue Material
A Material Issue takes stock out of one of your stores. You use it to feed a work order with the parts it needs, or to take out consumables, maintenance spares, R&D samples or goods for your own use. The reason you pick decides what the movement means — read Material Flow first if you haven't.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
Before you start
- The store you're taking from should hold the stock you want to issue.
- If you're issuing to a job, the work order should already exist.
- The items you're issuing should exist in your item list, with stock on hand.
Step-by-step
Step 1: Open a new Material Issue
From the left sidebar, open Production and go to Material Flow, then start a new Material Issue. A blank form opens with today's date already filled in.
Step 2: Choose why you're issuing
Pick the reason for the movement. This is the most important choice on the form, because it decides what happens to your stock:
- To a work order — the material is moved onto the job and stays your stock until the output comes back. Nothing is used up.
- A move between stores (same site) — the material is simply re-tagged to another store. No accounting impact.
- Consumables / maintenance / R&D / own-use — the material is used up: it leaves your holding for good and is counted as an expense.
If you chose "to a work order", pick the work order the material is for. Bizconnekt then knows this material belongs to that job.
Step 3: Choose the store to take from
Select the store the material should come out of. This is the shelf the stock leaves.
If you're moving stock to another store in the same site, also choose the destination store — that's the internal re-tag. If the destination is a different site, stop and use a Stock Transfer instead.
Step 4: Add the item lines
For each item you're issuing:
- Item — pick what's leaving the store.
- Quantity — how much is being issued. Don't issue more than the store holds.
Add as many lines as you need with the add-line control, and remove any line you added by mistake.
Step 5: Set the date
The date defaults to today. Change it if the material actually left the store on a different day, so your records match reality.
Step 6: Review and save
Check the reason, the store, and every line and quantity. When it's right, save the Material Issue.
On saving, Bizconnekt takes the material out of the chosen store and — depending on your reason — either parks it on the work order, re-tags it to another store, or books it as used-up expense. Your counts and values update on their own.
After you save
- The issued quantity leaves the store you chose.
- If it went to a work order, it's now held against that job, ready to become finished output you'll bring back with a Material Receipt.
- If it was used up (consumables, maintenance, R&D, own-use), it's gone from stock and recorded as a cost.
- The movement appears in your Material Flow view alongside your receipts.
Common questions
I issued material to a work order — why didn't my total stock go down? Because it isn't used up. Issuing to a job just moves the stock onto that job; it's still yours until the finished item is received. Only consumable, maintenance, R&D and own-use reasons reduce what you hold.
I need to move stock to another branch. That's a different site, so it's a Stock Transfer, not a Material Issue. A Material Issue store-move is only for two stores in the same site.
I issued too much by mistake. Bring the extra back in with a Material Receipt to the store, so your counts match what's physically there.
