Units of Measure
The standard units — nos, kgs, mtr, box and the rest — are always available in Bizconnekt. Use Units of Measure only when you need a unit of your own, such as a spool or a 200-litre drum, or when you want to change how many decimal places a unit allows.
Units are set per business unit. Open them from Configuration → Item Central → Units of Measure in the Admin console.
The units list
The list shows the units you have added, with their Code, Name, Symbol, Category, Decimals, Conversion, UQC and whether they are Active. If you haven't added any, it reads "No custom units added yet."
Narrow the list with:
- Search — type a code, name or symbol and press Enter.
- Category — Count, Weight, Length, Volume, Area or Packaging / Other.
- Status — Active and inactive, Active only or Inactive only.
Each row has Edit and Delete actions.
Add a unit
- Click Add Unit.
- Fill in the fields below and click Add.

| Unit Code (required) | The unit's identity, matched on every item and document line — for example spool. It is saved in lowercase and can't be changed once the unit is created. Each code can be used once per business unit. |

| Statutory UQC | Leave blank for a unit of your own — it is reported on the GST portal as OTH. |
| Offered when picking a unit | Untick to retire a unit: it stops being offered when your team picks a unit. |

What the settings change
- Decimals are enforced. A quantity entered with more decimal places than its unit allows is refused when the document is saved — for example, 2.5 in a unit with 0 decimals. The message asks the user to enter the quantity at the unit's precision. This applies to sales and purchase document lines as well as stock transfers, stock adjustments, stock conversions, physical counts and material issues and receipts.
- Changing a standard unit's decimals. Add a unit with the same code as a standard unit (for example
nos) and your decimals are used for it in this business unit. - GST reporting. On e-invoices and e-way bills, a unit of your own is reported as OTH, with its real name added to the line description, and the quantity as entered. Reported quantities never carry more than three decimal places.
- The conversion factor is for reference. It is saved with the unit and shown in the list, but it doesn't convert quantities on its own.
Edit or delete a unit
- Edit changes everything except the code. Click Update to save.
- Delete asks you to confirm. If a unit is still in use, consider unticking Offered when picking a unit instead, so existing items and documents keep it.
