GSTR-3B
GSTR-3B is the summary return you file with the GST portal — what you sold, the credit you claim on what you bought, and the tax left to pay. In Bizconnekt you prepare it from the documents you have already recorded: pick a period, press Compute, read each table, and when the portal accepts it, mark it filed.
Availability depends on your plan and your role. You need Tax Compliance access to read the return, and Edit access to compute, change a figure, mark it filed, undo or delete it. The documents behind each figure and the 6.1 worksheet also need Tax Reports access (View). GSTR-3B is for businesses registered for GST in India.
Open GSTR-3B
- Click Finance in the sidebar, then Tax Compliance.
- Click the GSTR-3B tile. Its description reads: compute the monthly or quarterly GSTR-3B, review each table and the tie-out, export the JSON and mark it filed.
The screen works on the business unit you are currently in. The Return period opens on the latest return that has already ended. If your unit files quarterly, you will see the quarter, such as Quarter Jul–Sep 2026, instead of a month.
GSTR-3B can be marked filed only after that period's GSTR-1 is marked filed. If you computed GSTR-3B before that, compute it again first, so tables 3.1 and 3.2 match the GSTR-1 you filed.
The portal takes GSTR-3B after GSTR-1. Mark your GSTR-1 filed first, so the outward-supply tables here read from the return you actually filed.
The controls at the top
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Return period | The month (or quarter) you are preparing. |
| Planned filing date (optional) | The date you expect to file. Interest and late fee in table 5.1 are worked out to this date, or to today when you leave it blank. |
| Compute / Compute again | Works the return out from your documents and saves it. Use Compute again after you correct a document. |
| Export JSON | Downloads the file for the GST portal's offline tool. |
| Mark filed | Records that the portal accepted the return. |
| Unmark filed | Undoes a filing marked by mistake. |
| Delete | Removes a computed return, and every figure you changed by hand, so you can start again. Your books are not touched. |
Only the buttons that make sense for the return's state appear. Next to the period you also see a status badge:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not computed | A preview from your books as they stand now. Nothing is saved until you compute. |
| Draft | Started but not computed. Compute to save the figures. |
| Computed | Computed and saved. Review it, export the file, then mark it filed. |
| Computed — blocked | A blocking issue stands. Fix it and compute again. |
| Filed | Marked filed on the portal. The figures are frozen as filed. |
Once a return is filed you also see the filing date and the ARN, when you entered one.
Where the figures come from
Every figure is worked out from your own documents, so you do not type totals in.
- Outward supplies (3.1, 3.1.1 and 3.2) are read from the period's GSTR-1 — the filed one, once you have marked it filed. 3.1(d), inward supplies liable to reverse charge, comes from your bills and expenses.
- Eligible ITC (Table 4) comes from the GSTR-2B you uploaded and reconciled for the period. A banner above the tables tells you which case you are in:
- ITC in Table 4 is from your reconciled GSTR-2B for this period.
- ITC in Table 4 is partly provisional — some months are from the reconciled 2B, the rest from your books.
- ITC in Table 4 is provisional — no 2B is uploaded for the period, so it is taken from your books. Upload and reconcile your GSTR-2B to claim only what your suppliers reported.
- Interest and late fee (5.1) are suggestions worked out to your planned filing date. The portal computes its own.
Warnings
Notes about your documents appear above the tables, most serious first:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Must fix before filing | Blocks the return until you fix it, then compute again. |
| Check | Worth a look before you file. |
| Note | For your information. |
The four tabs
Return tables
The tables are laid out the way the portal lays them out, each with a short line on what it holds:
- 3.1 Details of outward supplies and inward supplies liable to reverse charge
- 3.1.1 Supplies notified under section 9(5) of the CGST Act
- 3.2 Inter-State supplies to unregistered persons, composition dealers and UIN holders, by place of supply
- 4 Eligible ITC
- 5 Values of exempt, nil-rated and non-GST inward supplies (value only, no tax)
- 5.1 Interest and late fee
Columns are Taxable value, Integrated tax, Central tax, State / UT tax and Cess. A table shows only the columns that apply to it.
See the documents behind a figure. Click the small arrow beside any row. A list opens showing each Source (GSTR-1, GSTR-2B, Books, Rule 37, or a journal for reversal of input tax credit) and the Document, with a link to open it. Lines from the 2B that are not matched to a document say GSTR-2B line not matched to a document. The list shows your books as they stand now, so on a filed return it may differ from the frozen figure.
6.1 Set-off
The worksheet for paying the tax, worked out from your books in the order the law sets: IGST credit first, then CGST and SGST credit, with cess credit paying cess only. It has:
- 6.1 Payment of tax — tax other than reverse charge: for each tax, the tax payable, how much each kind of credit pays (Paid by … credit) and what is Paid in cash.
- What the cash payment is made of: negative figures brought forward, opening credit carried in, ITC available, reverse-charge tax (paid in cash only), interest, late fee, Total cash to pay and the ITC left over, carried forward.
- The due date, and how many days late you are as of today.
- On a filed return, Credit as filed — the credit carried forward to next period.
If you changed a figure by hand, or the return is filed, a note tells you this worksheet comes from your books as they stand now and may differ from the return. Use the portal's own 6.1 when you file.
Tie-out
Checks that your return agrees with GSTR-1 and with the tax balances in your books. A banner says either Every figure ties out or how many figures do not tie out and have no explanation. Below it, Figures that differ lists each check with Return, GSTR-1 / ledger, Difference and Unexplained amounts. Open a row to see why — for example a document posted in another period, or a figure changed by hand — and the documents involved. A difference with a known reason shows Explained; one without says Unexplained difference, and you should correct your books or the return before filing.
Settlement
This tab appears only once the return is filed. See Settle a filed return below.
Change a figure by hand
Sometimes your books and the credit you are actually claiming differ. While a return is Computed and you have Edit access, a small pencil appears beside figures you may change.
- Click the pencil beside the figure.
- Enter the New amount.
- Give a Reason ("Why is this figure different? (required)"). The reason is kept with the return.
- Click Save change, or Cancel.
A small amber dot marks a changed figure; hover over it to see the original amount and your reason. A box above the tabs lists every change as N figure(s) changed by hand. Computing again keeps your changes.
Some figures cannot be changed, and Bizconnekt says why when it matters:
- 3.1(a), (b), (c), (e), 3.1.1 and 3.2 come from your GSTR-1 and the portal locks them. Correct the GSTR-1 instead.
- 4(C) is always 4(A) less 4(B). Change a 4(A) or 4(B) figure instead.
- 4(B)(2) is worked out bill by bill. Correct the bill or its payment and compute again.
- Table 5 carries a value only; Table 4 and 5.1 carry tax only.
Export and mark filed
- When the return is Computed and not blocked, click Export JSON. The file downloads, with a message to upload it in the GSTN offline tool. Export JSON is also offered on a filed return.
- Upload it on the GST portal and file there.
- Back in Bizconnekt, click Mark filed. Enter the Filing date on the portal (required — not before the period ends, and not in the future) and, optionally, the ARN. Its figures are frozen as they stand.
- Any notes about the filing appear above the tables.
To undo a filing marked by mistake, click Unmark filed and give a reason. The return goes back to Computed. Two things stop an undo:
- If you have posted journals from this return, reverse them on the Settlement tab first.
- If a later period's GSTR-3B is marked filed, undo that period first.
If Bizconnekt cannot do what you asked, a red message explains why. When the fix is to compute again, the message carries a Compute again link. When the fix is to reverse journals on a filed return, it carries an Open Settlement link instead.
Settle a filed return
After you file, the Settlement tab helps you record the filing in your books. It is for users with Edit access; others can read it.
- Credit used against tax (set-off). Shows the credit the return used against each tax. Choose a Set-off date (it defaults to the filing date) and click Post set-off journal. If credit paid none of the tax, or the set-off is already posted, the button explains why it is unavailable.
- Cash to pay. For tax, interest and late fee, it shows what is due, what you have paid and what is outstanding. Click Record payment, choose Paid from (a bank or cash account), the Payment date, an optional Challan / CPIN reference, and the amounts. Leave amounts blank to clear everything outstanding. If interest or late fee is due you can choose the accounts they are charged to. Click Post payment journal.
- Journals posted from this return. Lists each journal as Posted, or as Reversed by the reversing journal with its date and your reason. Click Reverse, give a reason, and confirm to undo one. A journal is locked; to change it, reverse it and post it again.
Your first GSTR-3B on Bizconnekt
If no earlier GSTR-3B is marked filed in Bizconnekt, the 6.1 worksheet has no credit to carry in. On the Tax Compliance home page, use Opening credit ledger balance to enter the balance of your electronic credit ledger on the GST portal at the start of that period, choose the period, and Save. After that, the credit carried forward by each filed return is picked up automatically — leave it empty. Clear removes it.
