How to Import Attendance in Bulk
When attendance comes off a biometric device or lands in a separate spreadsheet, you don't want to type it in day by day. Bulk import lets you bring in many days at once — one row for each person on each day — and it becomes ordinary attendance the moment it's in.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
When to use it
- Your times come from a clock-in device as a file.
- Someone keeps attendance in a separate sheet you want to bring across.
- You're catching up on a stretch of days for the whole team at once.
For one or two entries, it's quicker to record them by hand.
How it works, in short
You start from a spreadsheet where each row is one person on one day, carrying the same details you'd otherwise type — the person, the date, the times, the hours, the shift and the status. Bizconnekt reads the sheet, checks it, and adds the days to your register.
Step 1: Get the template
Start the import and download the sample sheet. It shows the columns to fill and the order they go in, so your file lines up with what Bizconnekt expects. Filling in the template is far safer than building a sheet from scratch.
Step 2: Fill one row per person per day
Enter your data with one row for each person's day:
- the person the row is for,
- the date it covers,
- present from / to times, if you track them,
- regular and overtime hours,
- the shift they were on,
- the status for the day, such as present or absent,
- any notes.
Leave a box empty where you don't track that detail — you don't have to fill every column for every row.
Step 3: Upload and check
Upload your filled sheet. Bizconnekt reviews the rows before anything is saved and flags any it can't accept — for example a person it doesn't recognise or a date it can't read. Fix those rows in your sheet and upload again.
Step 4: Confirm the import
Once the rows read cleanly, confirm. The days are added to your attendance list, exactly as if you'd recorded each one by hand.
Tips for a clean import
- Start from the template every time — a sheet built from scratch is the usual cause of rejected rows.
- Match your people exactly — the person on each row must be someone who already exists as an employee.
- One row per person per day — don't combine two days, or two people, on a single row.
- Fix and re-upload — if some rows are flagged, correct just those in your sheet and import again.
After importing
- The days appear in the attendance list, where you can filter, open and correct any of them.
- If you record against shifts, check the imported days against what was expected — see reconciliation.
