Set a Working Calendar — Days, Hours and Holidays for Resources

Overview

A working calendar tells Bizconnekt when a resource is open for work — which days of the week, what hours in the day, and any holidays or planned shutdowns. Once a calendar is attached to a resource, the schedule board will only let jobs be booked in the hours the resource is actually available. It's what keeps the schedule honest: no jobs quietly planned for a Sunday or a holiday.

note

Availability depends on your plan and your role.

Step-by-step: set a working calendar

Step 1: Open Calendars

From the left sidebar, open Production, then Calendars. Click + Add Calendar.

Step 2: Name it

Give it a name that says who or what it's for — "Standard Day Shift", "Night Shift", "Line A — Mon–Sat". You can have as many calendars as you need.

Step 3: Choose the working days

Tick the days of the week the resource works. A standard shift might be Monday to Saturday; a machine on a six-day week would leave Sunday unticked.

Step 4: Set the working hours

Set the start and end of the working day — for example 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you run shifts, this is where the day shift and the night shift differ. Jobs will only be placed inside these hours.

Step 5: Add holidays and shutdowns

Add the dates the resource is closed — public holidays, the annual maintenance shutdown, a stock-take day. On those dates nothing can be booked, so a job that would have landed there is kept out.

Step 6: Save

Click Save. The calendar is now ready to attach to resources.

Attach a calendar to resources

A calendar does nothing on its own until it's attached to the resources that follow it.

  • When adding or editing a resource, choose this calendar in the resource's Calendar field. See Add production resources.
  • The same calendar can be shared by many resources — every machine on the day shift can point at one "Day Shift" calendar, so a change to the holiday list updates them all at once.
  • Different resources can follow different calendars — handy when one machine is offline every Friday for servicing while the rest run.

What changes when you update a calendar

Edit a calendar — add a new holiday, change the closing time — and it takes effect for every resource attached to it. If a booking already sits in a slot that a new holiday would close, Bizconnekt flags the clash so you can move it, rather than silently pretending the work can still happen.
