Leads in Bizconnekt: Track and Convert Potential Customers
A lead is the first, loosest note you keep about someone who might buy from you — a name you jotted down before you know much else. Bizconnekt Leads give every such person a home, a running memory of your calls and meetings, and a clear path from "just a name" to a real deal. Think of it as the notebook where you write down every enquiry that walks in, so none of them slip through the cracks.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
What is a lead?
A lead is a potential customer you have captured early, before you know whether they will really buy. When you add a lead, Bizconnekt gives it an automatic Lead ID (for example, L-2526-0001) so you can always find it and refer to it later. You start with whatever you know — often just a company or a person's name — and fill in the rest as you learn more.
A lead is deliberately light. You are not creating a customer or a firm order yet; you are simply making sure a real opportunity is written down and assigned to someone, so it gets followed up.
Who uses leads, and when?
Leads are for anyone who talks to potential buyers before a deal is firm — typically your sales team, and the owner or manager who wants to see the whole funnel.
Use a lead the moment a new opportunity appears:
- An enquiry comes in from IndiaMART, your website, or a social media message.
- A visitor walks into your shop or showroom and shows interest.
- Someone refers a friend or business to you.
- You meet a prospect at a trade show or make a cold call.
Capture it as a lead right away, assign it to a salesperson, and the follow-up begins.
How does a lead move forward?
A lead travels through a simple journey of stages, from first contact to a final result. The stage is how you and your manager see, at a glance, where each lead stands. As things progress, you move the lead to the next stage — and you can record a short reason each time you move it.
The journey is: New → Contacted → Qualified → then either Converted or Lost.
| Stage | What it means | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| New | A fresh lead nobody has spoken to yet. | Assign it to a salesperson and make first contact. |
| Contacted | You have reached out — a call, an email, or a meeting. | Understand what they need and gauge how serious they are. |
| Qualified | This is a genuine, worthwhile opportunity. | Prepare to convert it into an enquiry and a customer. |
| Converted | The lead became a real deal you are now pursuing. | Continue the work on its Enquiry and Customer record. |
| Lost | It will not go ahead for now. | Record the lost reason so you learn from it later. |
A lead marked Lost always captures a lost reason, so you can look back and see why deals slipped away.
How do leads become enquiries and customers?
Once a lead is genuinely interested, you convert it. Converting turns the loose note into real records you can act on:
- An Enquiry — a specific requirement you can pursue and quote against.
- A Customer record — with a contact person, ready for orders and invoices.
You can create one or both. Bizconnekt keeps a record of who converted the lead and when, so there is always a clear history. After conversion, the lead is marked Converted and the real work continues on the Enquiry and Customer it became.
How do leads feed the Sales Pipeline?
Every lead (and every enquiry) also appears on the Sales Pipeline — a drag-and-drop board that shows every deal grouped by stage. It is the manager's window on the whole funnel: how many leads are new, how many are qualified, and what is close to closing, all on one screen. Move a card on the board and the lead's stage updates with it.
Getting started
| Step | Where to go | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Add your first lead | Sales → Leads → Add | Bizconnekt gives it an automatic Lead ID and assigns it to a salesperson. |
| Work the lead | Open the lead | Log each call or meeting so every touch is remembered. |
| Move it forward | Change the stage | Track progress from New to Qualified, with a reason for each move. |
| Convert it | Convert on the lead | Create an Enquiry and/or a Customer and keep pursuing the deal. |
You can also enrich a lead with additional company details where your plan offers it, to fill out a sparse record without typing everything by hand.
