How to Add a Lead in Bizconnekt and Log Your First Call
Adding a lead takes less than a minute. You only need one thing to start — a name — and you can fill in everything else as you learn more. This page walks you through creating a lead and then recording your very first call or meeting against it, so the follow-up begins on the right foot.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
How do I add a new lead?
Follow these steps to capture a new opportunity:
- Open Sales from the main menu, then choose Leads.
- Click Add (the button to create a new lead).
- Enter the Lead Name — this is the only thing you must fill in. It can be a company name, a person's name, or both, whatever you know first.
- Pick the Lead Source so you know where it came from.
- Add any contact details you already have — none of these are required this early.
- Set Assigned To, the salesperson who will follow up.
- Add an Estimated Value, an Expected Close Date, and Notes if you have them.
- Save the lead.
That is it. Bizconnekt gives the lead an automatic Lead ID (for example, L-2526-0001) — you never type this yourself, and it becomes the lead's permanent reference.
What does each field mean?
Only the Lead Name is required. Everything else is optional and can be added later, so capture the lead first and fill in the blanks as you go.
| Field | Required? | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lead Name | Yes | The company name, the person's name, or both — whatever you know first. |
| Lead Source | No | Where the lead came from: IndiaMART, Referral, Cold Call, Walk-in, Trade Show, Website, Social Media, Email Campaign, or Other. |
| Contact person's name | No | The person you will actually speak to. |
| Designation | No | Their role or title, so you know who you are dealing with. |
| Phone | No | A number to call or message. |
| No | An address for follow-up. | |
| Company name | No | The business the lead belongs to, if the lead is a person. |
| Website | No | The company's website, handy for background. |
| Assigned To | No | The salesperson responsible for chasing this lead. |
| Estimated Value | No | An indicative rupee value of the potential deal. |
| Expected Close Date | No | When you hope to close the deal. |
| Notes | No | Free text about what the customer is looking for. |
You can also enrich a lead with additional company details where your plan offers it, so a sparse lead fills out without extra typing.
How do I log my first call or meeting?
Every lead keeps a running log of your outreach — its memory of every touch. Record each call or meeting as soon as it happens, so nothing is forgotten and anyone can pick up where you left off.
- Open the lead you just created.
- Find the activity log and choose to add a new call or meeting.
- Pick the type: Phone Call, Online Meeting, or Offline Meeting.
- Set the date and time it happened.
- Choose the direction — Inbound (they contacted you) or Outbound (you reached out).
- Record the outcome of the touch:
- For a call: Connected, No Answer, Callback, Callback Requested, Not Interested, Busy, Voicemail, or Wrong Number.
- For a meeting: Completed, Cancelled, No Show, or Rescheduled.
- Optionally add a duration in minutes and any notes on what was discussed.
- Save the entry.
Every entry stays attached to the lead, building a full history of your relationship. To learn more about reviewing the log and moving a lead forward, see View, filter, log activity, and convert a lead.
Common issues
I cannot find the Add button or the Leads menu. Access depends on your plan and your role. Ask the person who manages your Bizconnekt account to check your permissions.
It will not let me save. Make sure the Lead Name is filled in — it is the only required field. Everything else can be left blank for now.
I do not have the contact's phone or email yet. That is fine. Save the lead with just the name and add the rest once you have it.
I picked the wrong Lead Source. Simply open the lead and change it; nothing is locked in.
