How to Set Up a Pricing Rule in Bizconnekt

note

Availability depends on your plan and your role.

Setting up a pricing rule takes a few minutes and saves your team from recalculating prices on every quote and order. You decide who the rule is for, which item and channel it covers, the price, any discounts, and the dates it is valid — then Bizconnekt applies it automatically. This guide walks you through it end to end.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • The item (product or service) already added in Items.
  • The customer or supplier the price is for — unless the price applies to everyone.
  • Your intended price, discount bands, and start date to hand.

Step-by-step

Step 1: Open the Pricing screen

  1. Go to Item Central from the sidebar.
  2. Open Pricing.
  3. Choose to add a new pricing rule.

Step 2: Choose the direction

Pick whether this rule sets a selling price or a buying rate:

  • Sales — the price you charge customers.
  • Purchase — the rate you expect to pay suppliers.

The rest of the form adjusts to match your choice (customer for Sales, supplier for Purchase).

Step 3: Choose who the price is for

  1. Leave Apply to all customers (or Apply to all suppliers) ticked to give this price to everyone.
  2. To make it specific to one party, untick that box and search for the customer or supplier by name.

A rule for a specific customer takes priority over a general "everyone" rule for the same item, so your special rates always win where they apply.

Step 4: Choose the item and channel

  1. Select the item this price is for. You can add more than one item, each with its own price.
  2. Choose the sales channel the rule covers (for example online, retail, or wholesale), or leave it set to apply across all channels.

Step 5: Enter the price

  1. Choose the currency.
  2. Enter the price for each item.
  3. Optionally set how strictly the price should be applied — for example a plain suggested price, a fixed price, or a lower/upper limit your team cannot cross. Leave this at the default if you simply want a standard price.
tip

Setting up a new price for an item and channel replaces any earlier price you had for that same item and channel. Review the existing rule first if you are not sure.

Step 6: Add a volume (quantity) discount — optional

Use this when larger orders should earn a bigger discount. You define bands by quantity:

  1. Turn on the volume discount.
  2. For each band, set the minimum quantity, the maximum quantity, and the discount percentage.
  3. Leave the maximum blank on the top band to mean "and above".

For example: 1–100 units at no extra discount, 101–500 units at 5% off, and 501 and above at 10% off.

Step 7: Add an early-payment discount — optional

Use this to reward customers who pay quickly:

  1. Turn on the early-payment discount.
  2. For each band, set the number of days the customer must pay within, and the discount percentage they earn.

For example: 2% off if paid within 10 days, 1% off within 20 days.

Step 8: Set the validity dates

  1. Set the effective from date — when the rule starts. This is required.
  2. Set the effective to date — when the rule stops. Leave it off and tick No end date if the price should run indefinitely.

Date ranges are what make seasonal and promotional prices switch on and off on their own.

Step 9: Save

  1. Review the price, discounts, and dates.
  2. Save the rule. It becomes active and will apply on your documents from its start date.

A worked example

Goal: wholesale customers get 5% off above 100 units, and 2% more if they pay within 7 days.

  1. Direction: Sales.
  2. Customer: leave apply to all on (or pick your wholesale customer if it is only for them).
  3. Item: the product you are pricing; channel: wholesale.
  4. Enter the standard unit price.
  5. Volume discount: 1–100 at 0%, and 101 and above at 5%.
  6. Early-payment discount: 2% if paid within 7 days.
  7. Effective from: today. No end date.
  8. Save.

From now on, quoting or selling that item to a wholesale customer applies the 5% on qualifying quantities and offers the 2% early-payment reward automatically.

Common issues

The price does not appear on my quotation or order

  • Check the rule's start date has arrived and its end date has not passed.
  • Check the direction matches — a Purchase rule will not fill a sales price.
  • Check the customer, item, and channel on the document match the rule.

My volume discount is not being applied

  • Confirm the order quantity actually falls inside one of your bands.
  • Check the bands do not leave a gap (for example 1–100 and then 200+ leaves 101–199 uncovered).
  • Make sure the top band's maximum is left blank if it should mean "and above".

I set a new price but the old one is still showing

  • A new price for the same item and channel replaces the previous one. Refresh the document, or re-open it, so it picks up the current rule.

I cannot see or add pricing

  • Adding and editing pricing depends on your plan and your role. Ask your administrator to confirm your access.
