Stock Adjustment
A Stock Adjustment brings your book count into line with what is actually on the shelf. Use it when the number in the system and the number in the store no longer agree — goods were damaged, some walked off, or a stock-take turned up a different figure. An adjustment can push a quantity up or down.
This page explains what an adjustment is and how it behaves. The step-by-step screens are linked at the bottom.
Availability depends on your plan and your role.
What a Stock Adjustment is for
Every business's book count drifts from reality over time. An adjustment is the honest correction:
- Damage — goods broke, spoiled or expired and can no longer be sold. Write them off.
- Shrinkage or loss — stock is missing and you cannot explain where it went. Record the loss.
- Stock-take correction — you counted the shelf and the real number differs from the system. Set it right.
The point of an adjustment is simple: the number in Bizconnekt should match the number on the shelf. Whenever it doesn't, an adjustment is how you fix it.
It records the physical truth first
Here is the behaviour worth understanding. A Stock Adjustment records what is physically there, first — it is never blocked or held up by reservations.
If you lower a count and that leaves an order over-promised — you had promised more than you now actually hold — Bizconnekt does not stop you. It simply flags that order as "short" so you can see it and act: chase more stock, tell the customer, or re-plan. The adjustment always goes through, because the shelf is the shelf.
This is deliberately different from a Stock Transfer, which only moves free stock and is refused if the goods are reserved. A transfer is a choice about goods you have; an adjustment is the truth about goods you have lost or found — and the truth is never blocked.
When to use a Stock Adjustment — and when not to
| If you need to… | Use |
|---|---|
| Write off damage, record loss, or fix a count | Stock Adjustment |
| Move goods from one site to another | Stock Transfer |
| Turn items into different items — build a kit or repack | Stock Conversion |
| Add freight or duty onto the value of received goods | Landed Cost |
An adjustment changes how much you have. If instead you want to change where goods are or what they are, one of the other documents fits better.
